Current and Former Presidents

Robert Weisbuch is former President of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and of Drew University. 

Susan Kress served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and as Acting President at Skidmore College. She also has been President of the Association of Departments of English. 

Devorah Lieberman is President of La Verne University in California and served previously as provost and vice-president for academic affairs at Wagner College. 

S. Georgia Nugent is former President of Kenyon College and was appointed first Dean of the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning at Princeton University.

Sanford J. Ungar is former President of Goucher College and Director of the Voice of America.

 Academic Leaders

Johnnella Butler is the former provost of Spelman College and served previous to that as Associate Dean at the University of Washington.

Peter Bruns served as Vice President for Grants and Special Programs at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and, earlier, as head of the Division of Biological Sciences at Cornell University. 

Leonard Cassuto is Professor of English at Fordham University and writes frequently on graduate education for The Chronicle of Higher Education. 

Ken Dinitz directed the Grants Office of Swarthmore College and has led fundraising efforts for a variety of arts and public radio organizations.

Joseph Fins is the Davis Professor of Medical Ethics at Weill Cornell Medical School and Chief of the Division of Medical Ethics, where he also serves as Professor of Medicine.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Trustee Emeritus of Wesleyan University.   

James Grossman is Director of the American Historical Association.  He served earlier as vice president for research and education at the Newberry Library while teaching at the University of Chicago. 

Susan Jeffords is Vice Chancellor at the University of Washington Bothell and previously served as Divisional Dean of the Social Sciences and then as Vice Provost for Global Affairs at the University of Washington Seattle. 

David Paris is Vice President for Integrative Liberal Learning and the Global Commons at the Association of American Colleges and Universities.  Formerly, he was the executive director of the New Leadership Alliance for Student Learning and Accountability and Dean of the Faculty at Hamilton College in Clinton New York.  

Frederick Winter served as a program officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities and then in the Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education, where he oversaw grant programs.
